Youth Compete for National Titles at USATF Hershey Youth Indoor Championships

3/7/2018

STATEN ISLAND, New York -- Starting Friday, more than 2,700 USATF Future Stars will compete for national titles at the 2018 USATF Hershey National Youth Indoor Championships, March 9-11, at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Staten Island, New York.

USATF returns to Ocean Breeze after a successful 2017 event that saw 70 meet records broken by athletes ranging in age from 7 to 18.

Returning national champions include Christian Walker (USATF New York; Metro Eagles), Da'mira Allen (USATF Mid-Atlantic; Chester Chee), Chloe Lindeman (USATF Illinois) and Caleb Johnson (USATF New England; Team VA).

Last year, Walker defended his 2016 200m title en route to winning three national titles in the 55m, 200m, 400m and is entered in the 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay this weekend. Allen successfully defended her 2016 400m and 1500m titles on her way to three national titles in the 400m, 800m and 1500m. Allen is scheduled to compete in the 400m, 800m and 1500m.

Lindeman looks to defend her shot put title after destroying the girls 15-16 shot put record in 2017 with a throw of 13.94m/49-9. Johnson set a new pole vault record for the 15-16 year-old boys with a clearance of 4.40m/14-5.25 last year at the Hershey Youth Indoor Championships.
